More independence, more confidence, better preparation for success anywhere in the world
At this stage, students gradually gain more independence in their learning, guided by their teachers, so they can confidently take on any challenge in the future. We also place special focus on helping them feel comfortable and fully included: with native English-speaking teachers specialized in Secondary School, they receive the support and motivation they need.
MYP: practical connections between what they learn and the real world
Secondary School is part of the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP). Students are encouraged to make practical connections between their studies and the real world, preparing them for success in their future education and in life. Inquiry remains at the core: we give them the tools to research and become creative, critical, and reflective thinkers. What do they study? Through inquiry units, we develop areas such as sciences, arts, design, math, language acquisition, physical and health education, language and literature, and individuals and societies—sparking curiosity about meaningful topics that matter in today’s world. In Grade 5, students complete a personal exhibition: they research a topic that matters to them and explore how it can benefit society. It’s a powerful way to see how they think, how they communicate, and how they connect learning to the real world.
Full English immersion (plus more languages)
English continues as the language of instruction across all stages: all subjects are taught by native English-speaking teachers, creating full language immersion. Spanish is taught only in Spanish Language and Culture, and students are also encouraged to learn additional languages such as Chinese and German.
Personal Project: proving what they’ve learned through a real project
The stage ends with the Personal Project: over several months, students research a topic they choose and complete a project they present to the school community. It’s a clear way to see their growth, work habits, and academic maturity.
